Many a Thing

Oh blog, it has been quite some time. As expected, I'm way too lazy to write often. Let's see, what amazing things have happened since I last wrote? I need to document them so that the future generations of the world will know what was important to mankind in 2014!

I finished my 2nd semester at BYU. Not too exciting. Moving onward. My CD is getting very close to finished! It will be called Cognitive Dissonance and is a concept album about a man that at one time sees what is truly important in life, but, through a series of tragic events, ends up wanting a fresh start at life. Eventually, he develops a split personality because of the strong, conflicting ideas in his head (cognitive dissonance) and, through the process of forgetting who he is, he is able to let go of the things that shackle him. In the end, the things in life that actually offer him happiness are made clear again. A lot of the songs on the CD have double meanings though, and kind of relate to personal events in my life (though taken to the extreme sometimes).

In other news, I drew this sick nasty sketch of Zeratul from the Starcraft series! It's the only thing I've drawn in quite some time, but I like it. My future generations can look back to this blog post and know that I was a very non-dedicated, mediocre artist! Also, yes I did use a reference that I found on google images so I can't take full credit for it, but I didn't trace it and blew it up to like 10x it's normal size.
Okay, trying to think of anything else important... I've met some new people since last time. In one case, I've re-met somebody and I guess they pretty much count as new. They're kind of crazy though...

I've been learning some really gnarly things on the guitar lately! I'm trying to get ready to audition for the Commercial Music program at school. I've also been taking basic vocal training and doing some strength training so this spring term is just a time of growth in many different ways!

Mother's Day passed just recently. Twas nice. My mom is cool. Nuff said.

I'm very much looking forward to the new Contortionist album that's coming out sometime soon. Also, BTBAM is doing some studio performance of The Parallax 2, so that will probably be awesome.

Anyway, can't think of anything else important to say. Until next time, all my non-existent readers!

My Writing Teacher Would Be Proud

Why hello there! I have no idea why I'm doing this, but I decided it's about time I start a blog! Maybe it's because I think my ideas are soooo interesting that the world needs to know about them... probably not though.

For some reason tabbing doesn't put an indent... I'm already getting peeved at this. Anyway, all you need to know is that I'm a guy with a lot on my mind and maybe during my ranting you'll find something useful or interesting to you. I have many interests such as, long walks on the beach, star gazing, and finding inner peace. Also, I'm a very sarcastic person (I've been told that's a bad thing. I'll make sure to change that asap...) On the real though, inner peace is important. Much of my writing will probably have to do with the little things that happen in life that amaze me.

Speaking of things that amaze me, Utah's weather is pretty amazing, but in the worst way possible. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm usually a pretty positive guy, but it shouldn't be snowing in April! If this were to happen in Texas, I would be legitimately concerned that the end of the world was upon us. On the upside, I got to see little mallard ducks walking around in the snow and I thought that was the most interesting thing ever. I'm not really sure why, but it was just one of those moments when you feel this sudden awareness of your own life and all the forms of life around you (kinda like the first time I listened to Colors by Between The Buried And Me). Usually, when I think of stuff like this though, I end up thinking about the fact that we're so limited in the amount of things we can perceive. I bet there's tons of stuff all around us that exists, but we have no idea because we're limited to 5 measly senses (in the case of my good friend, Mark Carlson, only 4. Sometimes I'm jealous of the fact that he can't smell. There are some nasty smells out there.) It's okay though! No reason to get bummed because I know that one day we'll understand it all! Oh, by the way, spiritual things are very important to me. Most anybody that reads this will probably already know that because probably nobody will care to read this besides my friends, but, just in case you don't, I am most certainly a believer. My personal quest to find if I believe in God has been a long and interesting one, but lots of things have happened in my life that have shown me that he is there. To me, it not only makes complete logical sense that God exists (and believe me, I've thought about all the different possibilities long and hard), but there are certain things that I can't even describe that have given me personal proof of His existence. That being said, I don't just rant about God all the time and I think there are proper times and places to have good discussions about religion.

Well, I definitely don't plan on any of my posts being very long and probably won't post very often, but just to say a few more things about me before I finish, I like music a lot and I honestly think it can change lives, so I'll probably write a lot about that. I'm also garbage at writing, but I'm good at writing music! Or at least I'd like to think so. I have an entirely self-produced album that will be finished soon! Oh and video games are fun so I might post about that every once in a while. I like playing sports, but I can't stand watching them. I always need to feel like I'm actually engaged in something and watching sports just doesn't do it for me. Anyway, that's all for now! My future posts will likely be much shorter.
